Musical Theater Production: Newsies Jr
Ages 11-17 (6th-12th grades)
When powerful newspaper publishers raise prices at the newsboys’ expense, the charismatic Jack Kelly rallies newsies from across the city to strike against the unfair conditions. Together, the newsies learn that they are stronger united and create a movement to fight for what’s right! Including the now-classic songs “Carrying the Banner,” “Seize the Day,” and “Santa Fe,” Newsies JR. is a timeless story full of spirit and heart. No experience necessary. Auditions will be held the second week of class, but don’t worry…we’ll teach you everything you need to know!
Tuition and production fee includes all instruction related to the class, production materials like costumes and props, a script and a cast t-shirt for each performer. Newsies performances will take place at FAPA May 17th and 18th, 2024. Rehearsals begin January 10th.
Wednesdays: 7-9pm (Tuition: $108/month January-April)
There is a $65 production fee due May 1st.
Musical Theater Production: Matilda Jr
Ages 12-17 (6th-12th grades)
Matilda has astonishing wit, intelligence… and special powers! She’s unloved by her cruel parents but impresses her schoolteacher, the highly loveable Miss Honey. Matilda’s school life isn’t completely smooth sailing, however – the school’s mean headmistress, Miss Trunchbull, hates children and just loves thinking up new punishments for those who don’t abide by her rules. But Matilda has courage and cleverness in equal amounts, and could be the school pupils’ saving grace! Everyone loves this story of the special little girl with an extraordinary imagination.
All who enroll will be cast. No experience necessary! Auditions will be held the second week of class, but don’t worry…we’ll teach you everything you need to know!

Play Production: Game of Tiaras
Ages 13-17 (7th-12th grades)
When the aging king of a Magical Kingdom (England) decides to split his empire between his three daughters, Cinderella, Belle, and the Snow Queen (who in no way resembles a copyrighted character), terrible tragedy ensues. Terrible, hilarious tragedy. Combining the gut-wrenching plot twists of Game of Thrones, and the soul-numbing despair of Shakespearean tragedy, this adaptation of King Lear will leave you dying with laughter as the hilarity ensues.
Tuition and production fee includes all instruction related to the class, production materials like costumes and props, a script and a cast t-shirt for each performer. Game of Tiaras performances will take place at FAPA May 10th and 11th, 2024. Rehearsals begin January 9th.

Acting Up
Ages 11-15 (6th-12th grades)
One of our most popular classes, Acting Up is FAPA’s specially designed curriculum for teaching all of the elements of acting on stage to students of all levels of experience. Students in this class will enjoy creative acting games, improvisation, scenes, monologues, creating writing and story-telling geared specifically towards their age group! Perfect for students interested in giving acting a try without jumping directly into a production experience OR for those more experienced students who are interested in improving their acting technique. Parents will be invited to at least two showcases during the course of the class to experience what the kids are working on. Class runs August 14th through May 13th.

Musical Theatre Dance Workshop
Ages 13-17 (7th-12th grades)
Improving as a dancer is an important part of building your skill set in musicals and musical theater choreography is a unique blend of ballet, tap and jazz. In this class, we’ll explore the basics of dance while learning different styles of musical theater choreography and how to tell the story of a musical through our bodies. This is an important class that will especially help in learning how to learn choreography quickly in an audition setting. Class will meet from August 15th-May 14, 2024. *6th graders, please CLICK HERE for your age group!

Technical Theater Workshop
Ages 13-17 (7th-12th grades)
This class will work to learn all of the elements that go into what it takes to make the on-stage magic happen behind the scenes. Students will work to assist in the design and execution of all of our 2023-2024 season of shows. From the sets to lights to sound to stage management, students will work weekly with our FAPA design staff and they’ll also have the opportunity to sign up to work on the Tech crew for each production throughout the year. Class meets once per week and will run from August 15th through May 14, 2024.

Small Group Voice Workshop
Ages 12-16 (7th-11th grades)
If you love to sing, this is the class for you! Students will work each week on developing their singing voices through individual and group singing. Students will learn good breath support, healthy tone production and will come away from the class with at least one solo piece ready to perform or use in an audition! Students will spend the first half of the course learning the basics and singing together. As we head into the final weeks of the course, the students will begin to hone individual pieces in preparation for the culmination of our semester: an intimate recital for family and friends where the students will share all they’ve learned on November 9th at 6:30pm! (This class tuition is a ONE time payment NOT a monthly tuition.)
